Not Where I should Be
Sitting writing this blog and slowly sippping water through a straw is not what I am supposed to be doing. You see, I quilt and once a year in October I join a fabulous group of women on a quilting retreat.
Generally at a quilting retreat, one follows a pattern to make the top of a quilt. However, with these lovely ladies it is a case of doing your own thing. So one year I used the entire weekend making bunting. Yes, it is not quilting but I so enjoy making bunting.
Some of the ladies will start and finish an entire quilt top while others it is the chance to finish those UFOs. While others, with the expertise in the room, it is a chance to try something they have long wanted to try and know that if they have any difficulties they will be helped.
I have to admit that I am very envious of those ladies but in the lead up to next years retreat I wiil be drinking and takaing Vitamin C in whatever form I can to mkae sure I don’t pick up yet another throat infection.
So as I am typing out this blog I am imagining the autumnal colours dressing the Wicklow mountains and nestled in the Woodenbridge Hotel are a wonderful group of women encouraging each other to the rhythmic sounds of sewing machines.
